I’ll preface this by saying I do not think that it’s a terrible thing for them to bring awareness to this issue. It’s important that it can not only be ignored by taking a look from it. Before even getting to legislation and rulings such as qualified immunity that shield abusive cops and permit them to abuse their power freely. The vast majority of that EA and most capitalist companies are not able to perform all that much about making it unjust to state they are at the best possible place to do much more.
The ones in the best possible position to do more would be the assumed great cops by no longer staying quiet and enabling bad cops to eliminate their abuse of power or voting to get better direction for their unions that won’t enable the behavior. However, of course it’s just words. Because following decades of corporations doing things for the wrong reason, people are extremely cynical. Even if all businesses ceased doing things wrong, it’ll take a long, long time for that image of corporate America to reduce its tarnish. Part of what we can do is elect politicians that at least promise they’ll hold these corporations accountable. It probably wont happen alone. This would be a lot easier if a person like that may run for office successfully.
Because no matter this opinion, this remains 100 percent a company and marketing maneuver. If they truly wanted to do something positive, they can do it without marketing their merchandise while doing so. As it’s not genuine. This is no different than the coronavirus advertisements.
